Today I interviewed two of my aunts - sadly I lost one of the audio files, which leaves me with only one interview. Thankfully I have the audio file for the most important interview with my tech savy aunt who travels the world as a digital nomad. I will start working on cutting the audio next week.
I will have another interview with another one of my aunts probably next week. I am so glad that I found the courage to ask them for interviews - their stories are so interesting!

Highlight: The interviews are sceduled for tomorrow already!
Achievements of today:
- I finally had enough courage to send out the interview invitations
- Had a first look at the answers of my survey
Plans for next week:
- Record a project introduction for my podcast (first episode)
Podcast: Women in tech
I have set up a podcast portal to showcase my final project (also for my american family to see).
Since I am already familiar with the Site Anchor, this should be fairly easy.
These are the questions I want during the interview:
General questions:
1. Do you remember how it used to be to work with computers years ago?
2. What do you think has changed compared to today?
3. In terms of gender equality, how important is it that more women
enter male-dominated professions, specifically tech?
4. What do you think, how can we get more women and
girls interested in computers?
5. Regarding equality in male-dominated professions -
if you had the power to change something immediately what would it be?

Interview invitation for the family groupchat (usa):
Hi everyone
I am currently working on a project for school about women in IT.
Since our class has to collaborate with people from different countries I was
wondering if any of you were up to do an interview with me.
We could either zoom together or I could send you the questions and you'd be able to send
me the audio recordings with your answers. Either way I will just use the audio to create a
little podcast to showcase my project.
xoxo
interview / recorded phone call with my Dad
We covered memories about my grandma and ideas on who to talk to about women in IT. Additionally, we covered my future career options (would I work in IT? would I even be interested? If so, what interests me? )
phone call audio: Recording_Phonecall_Sophie_Ed.mp3 (8,81 mb)

Difficult vocabulary:
a brownout
a reduction in or restriction on the availability of electrical power in a particular area - eine Stromnetzstörung
How did women disappear from the IT industry? Most importantly how can we bring them back?
This is the main question of my thesis. When you think of the IT industry, you think of a male dominated field. But did you know that coding used to be a woman's business? Sadly, over the years the idea that computers are for men has become a narrative.

Project Topic: (9)
The project topic is clear. I knew from the beginning what was interesting to me.
Team-building: (5)
Since I am not very good at group work I decided to be my own "team". I already chat with my aunt and a few other IT-students about the IT Industry and will start interviewing them soon.

Guten Tag

Out of curiosity I checked my survey answers and found out that a big amount of answers were just blank. I found out that the answers take very long to load / to send - if you close the survey before the answers are sent, it will send a blank form. I am quite dissapointed in that, because I think I have lost some great answers to that error.
Today or tomorrow, I'll send out the survey again with a disclaimer about that error and will hope for the best.
Update 28.01: The problem was fixed.
