Environment & Technology

One step closer to publishing

Today I focused on getting my data toghether for publishing it on dontwastemyenergy.

I will make an image collection and list of what I still have to photograph myself (since I have my own photo studio and photograph as a part-time job). In addition I should come up with a solution for the interview transcripts - since the interview is quite long.

Photos I still need:

- Header image

- Pictures of Ada Lovelace

Becoming a pro at audio cutting

Today I focused on cutting the audio from the interviews and oh boy! I have more than 1h worth of audio to cut through.
Since I am already aquainted with the audio cutting tool, it is not that much hard work. But listening to my own voice defenitley sucks. I am working with the tool "audacity" - I recommend it to anyone that wants to edit/cut audios.

Brainstorming on what to post to dontwastemyenergy

 Title: Women in Tech

[Header Picture] <- I am not sure what to use yet

Introduction:

I wasn't interested in computer science during my education until I started an apprenticeship in a computer science company. It was only during my apprenticeship that I learned that I had a completely wrong image of computer science and that computer science can be so comprehensive and exciting.

During the project work in technology and the environment, I immediately became interested in the topic of computer science, especially women in computer science. During my apprenticeship, I noticed how few women I met, who actually work in that field. My goal with this work is to generate more interest for careers in computer science / tech and break through certain stereotypes.

My family is not new to computer science - many work in computer science professions (my father, 3 of my aunts). Since my father told me a lot of exciting stories about my aunt Eileen, who travels the world as a digital nomad, I immediately decided to interview her and other IT professionals in my family.

On the side, I did my own research by learning about the early female programmers and have conduct a survey to raise awareness of gender specific interest in computer science.
