Project: Reducing plastic waste
Team: Angela Diljak & Liranda Kurtesi
Effects:
We want people to realize how much plastic waste is created during the day and that it effects us negatively.
Methods:
We want to inform people on how much plastic is used for ready-made foods and how all of the plastic effects our environment. Also we're going to make an effort to reduce our personal use of it to set a good example.
Strategy:
We're going to research how many greenhouse gases are created for the production of plastic packaging, then we're going to write a report on how that effects our environment. After that we're going to monitor how much waste we create ourselves and try to find ways to reduce that amount. We might do a survey to see how many people buy wrapped food to see how bad the situation really is.
Audience:
Students and working people that tend to eat out a lot. But really anyone is welcome to read our article.
Project: Tap water (around the world)
Team: Emina Murtic und Sandrina Nauer
Effects:
We want to draw people’s attention to how easily / hard some people have access to drinking water and how people in different countries (have to) deal with (tap) water etc.
Which method do we want to use?
- Interview with people from other countries
- Survey in the street/internet how people think about this topic
- Research in the internet
- Check it in our everyday life (How do we have to deal with tap (water)
Strategy:
We will apply the above methods, document everything accurately and hopefully achieve our desired goals.
Audience:
Everyone that is interested.
On December 3rd, 2021 we had contact with students and teachers from Izmir and Kerala via Zoom.
The plan was to discuss project ideas in small groups (break out rooms). It was totally okay
for a first meeting.
There are a few things that could be improved. For example, that everyone prepares for a
specific question before the meeting.
Or that the task is explained more clearly.
But all in all: we are confident that the meetings will keep getting better and that they will bring many exciting aspects into the future.

Organise a day on which some divers (maybe you can join) go for e "clean up dive".

Lunch time
Most students don't take lunch with them. They spend money to eat out or sometimes they buy their lunch at grocery stores like Coop or Migros and so on.
Now why would that affect the environment?
It's because buying lunch produces a lot of plastic waste. Salads, joghurts, berries and more all come in plastic packaging.

How can we reduce the use of plastic packaging?
We should bring our own utensils and reuse the things we bought as many times as possible.
We should also bring our own reusable bottles.

Create a butterfly garden or bird sanctuary. it's so fun and you can learn something from it. On top of that it looks very nice.

Air pollution is already a serious issue. It is responsible for numerous diseases and deaths.
To prevent this, the Swiss government has already taken various measures.

Many supermarkets use plastic packaging to wrap their products. As we all know, this is not very helpful for the environment. To counter this, many stores have introduced alternatives. One example is the online store Lyfa.

A lot of schools still waste too much paper. That isn't environmentally friendly.
Digitization should be promoted and fewer books should be used and no more copies should be made
The idea is to make an experiment: halfe of the class digitalises and the other halfe makes it the old way. -> How much paper can be saved?
